Donkey Kong has to fight the Giant Kremling to free his friend. The Kremling holding the cage quickly pulls out a strange red mushroom, and grows to 4 times his normal size, eventually emerging from the water, roaring. The ship has the skeletons and ghosts of drowned Kremlings aboard K Rool's ship.ĭonkey Kong eventually corners the Kremlings, and is about to steal the cage from them, when the 4 Kremlings have an idea. They eventually escape into the sunken K Rool ship.ĭK loses the Kremlings this level and has to traverse the sunken remains of K Rool's ship to find them. The Kremlingvs swim fast through the waters and DK yet again have to chase them through the waters. At the end of the stage the Kremlings jump off the cliff and into the waters below. This stage introduces the mechanic of swinging on vines and using blast barrels. At the end DK sees the Kremlings climb the forest trees, so DK climbs up, ending Level 1.ĭK must hop along the treetops to catch up with the Kremlings. World 1: Kong Jungles Level 1: Jungle Chaseĭonkey has to chase the Kremlings through a jungle while avoiding all the enemies there. Donkey Kong quickly charges after them but they outrun him, beginning level 1. When DK turns back he sees his friends being lifted up in cages! Donkey tries to free them but fails.ĭonkey Kong then notices his bananas were being stolen by a group of Kremlings, and one of them was draging the cages that held Diddy Kong, who screams for DK's help. DK is quick to throw it back but fails to notice that his friends were being captured while he was doing this. On the island, Donkey Kong is having a good time with his friends when suddenly a bomb is thrown at them. He vows that today would be the day he finally destroys DK, but he doesn't know how. The Hubworld also offers several hidden collectables.Īfter his last defeat, K Rool watches Donkey Kong in anger on his destroyed ship. The levels are entered via red glowing circles on the floor, which turn blue on already-completed levels. The game features a Hubworld where more areas are unlocked as the levels are completed. There are also Blast Barrels, which puts you in a firstperson view, much like Mario 64's cannons. There are vines you can swing on in certain levels, allowing the player to move and jump off in any direction. This barrel, called the Fast-Travel Barrel, launches the player to whatever location they need to go to. The game has a Fast-Travel system, unlocked after beating the first boss.
Each character plays differently, allowing for segments in levels only completable by them, and to allow them to get hidden collectables.Įach level has a variety of ways to complete it for each character, encouraging replaying the levels to find hidden unlockables and alternate ways to beat the levels.
